Blue Moon Zombie Redux

Hello, just a follow up from last post; gave the blue moon zombies a wash with some
thinned Windsor and Newton Peat Ink, as per advice received on LAF from a helpful fellow, Vyper. I think they do look a lot better , less chalky....I also realize I will never be a great painter....I just do not have the patience or focus. I am used to hurriedly painting armies for gaming, and quite often forget to actually finish the figures, or get easily distracted with the next shiny.

15mm zombies for Strange Aeons

Hello, just finished 6 zombies for the skirmish game Strange Aeons. Just picked up the rules the other day, and of course ordered a bunch of figs from khurasan,copplestone, and brigade. Will try to do this project in 15 mm; the first painted minis I have are some zombies from Blue Moon Manufacturing Co. I will probably paint a lot more for other zombie gaming, but I doubt I will need more than 6 for Strane Aeons.
 Hopefully I will be able to get some buildings from Blue Moon  from their sleepy hollow set. Strange Aeons is set in the 1920s to 1930s, and while OK with that, what I yearn to do is some modern version based on the XCOM UFO DEFENSE video game.
In fact it was Mr. Harolds teasing on the subject that got me interested in Strange Aeons in the first place.
 Well, here are the 6 zombies, I assume some type of cultists or agents will be next.

I guess my favorite would be the farmer zombie. while I feel like I did OK on the flesh, I may have gone overboard with the blood.Luckily I feel like these could be modern or 1920s zombies

essence weilder for blasters and bulkheads

hello, fellow 15 mm enthusiasts. I have not updated the blog in quite a while. My teenage son finally moved in to live with me, so real life
actually has crowded out many former activities. now that the dust has settled, just wanted to share my first character for Blasters and Bulkheads. I believe it is a Blue Moon betelgeusian with a minimalist conversion of a lightsabre. sorry no advanced OSL painting techniques here, just good old fashioned mettalic paint.( I guess at heart i am a disorganized toy painter, not an artist).
easy conversion, pin vise, add 25 guage medical hypo needle. Here we have the hero using force push to ensure no one else gets a turn driving the big tractor.

Blue Moon Orion Republic Heavy Infantry

Hello, just a few pics of my finished squad of Blue moon Orion Republic Heavy Infantry.
Really like these guys, just did a simple 3 color paint job with a wash for speed( Did  a test version of blue/white grey camo due to Spacejackers' excellent camo on his, and I liked the way it turned out--but I opted out of the camo  in favor of simplicity and speed.
what I like is the 10 unique poses....I trimmed a little off their  antler backpacks and gave the heavy weapons guy , a frame harness for his BFG,  little like aliens colonial marines swing mount( its just a paperclip)
all in all very fun squad to paint- had one more pic of 3 guys that the blog elementals devoured

squad of Vleta Reavers moving thru some rubble. These are my favorite figures from Blue Moon's new galactic war range, and were extremely easy and enjoyable to paint. Will post a few more pics in next post.

color test Vleta Reaver

just a quick color test for Vleta Reavers from Blue Moon, only 99 to go. wow, cant say enuff good stuff about these minis. Overall some of the choices in this range are too pulpy for me , but the Vleta Reavers are a big win. 10 unique poses per pack They feel like a cross between GW termagaunts, and a cyclops from an old Sinbad movie. Going with a light brown-too much green lately

1-black gesso
2-dry/damp brush enttire mini with casmere beige
3-gun-true ochre
4-scales -rockwood red
5-straps-light cinnamon
6-wash fig with Windsor/Newton PEAT
7-dove grey on horns/teeth
8-eye-testors copenhagen blue mettalic

Blue Moon Nova Patrol

First painted test figure for Blue Moon Nova Patrol. Went for a gloss black visor. well see how they look in mass. Very pulpy uniforms.

Just a quick look at my second squad of Blue moon-Nova Patrol. These guys are rather tall, with nice pulpy uniforms and weapons .and a nice large visored helmet to paint. Very nice sculpting and lots of detail. I'm thinking of something bright for this squad,but well see after vacation. I have no idea if these guys are human or what.I'm guessing when the rules come out we will all find out.

Bluemoon mercantile bond soldiers

Just finished my first squad of 15mm, Blue moon mercantile bond soldiers. I thoroughly enjoyed panting these guys, although it was a little difficult for me, not knowing anything about the models, army background, etc. Oh, well... its only 1 squad. will be interested to see how others paint these up. Will be gone for a week up in NY, so probably no progress for a while. Wives seem not to appreciate portable boxes of paint and miniatures on vacation.

More Blue moon

Hello, just a quick comparison shot of some Blue Moon stuff with a sample Khurasan and Rebel Minis.
I know the dome on the BlueMoon mercantile Bond soldier is strange, But it doesn't seem to affect how well it plays with other miniatures. If anything the Bluemoon Nova Patrol seems kind of tall-I think its a tall helmet. Of course, without any racial background or fluff, it's hard to know. But I do like the detail and paintability so far. Each pack has many different poses, very hard to tell but close to being all unique models. I also just found Picasa for photo editing, and very happy so far with the improvements possible.

Blue moon MBS part2

Hi, just wanted to show the test figure for this squad. Basically 3 colors plus weapon. Black forest green and contrasting light avocado for body armor, and light mushroom for webbing and pack.

On this squad all colors are cheap craft paints. The gun is painted graphite. I slopped on a black future wash and then went over with the original colors,only covering 75% of the original area.

I really have no set in stone technique yet, so I will probably be experimenting alot.
